our confession of love

Xia is always sweet - she says "i love you mama" quite often...

i noticed lately though that she confesses her love for me in the most endearing way in the most awkward situation - while she poops!!! hahahhaa!

here goes the usual conversation:

xia:  mama do you know that i love you?

me:  of course!!! and i love you too!!!

xia:  but mama my love for you is much bigger than yours!!!

awwww i'm melting...

thank God for my sweetest little girl!!!

happy holidays from the abalos kids! :)

we are home for the holidays and we went to our annual photoshoot at play studio.

the kids enjoyed their time posing for pictures, they look like pros!

mommy-la joined in on the fun with her grandkids!

i feel nostalgic seeing xia doing her "model" moves.  it seems like yesterday when she was a baby!  she has grown big and tall - and she knows her way on things already!!!

look at those smiles... priceless!!!

i will never ever get tired looking at her beautiful face!  thank God talaga sa napakaganda kong anak haha!

i will forever be grateful for the most wonderful christmas gift from 4 years ago.  she completes me.

merry christmas, xia!

xia has been eyeing some nice toys in the past months.  but everytime we go to a toy shop whenever she gets rewarded for her good grades or deeds, she knows she only will get cheap toys.

i am blessed with a good little girl who understands that she can't get everything she wants.  she knows that mama has to work very hard to earn the money for her needs. so she knows how to settle with cheap toys with no complain at all!

i normally give her 100 pesos only and she would wave her hand to a store attendant who could give her a toy that would only cost that much.  one time, i don't have 100 bill so I handed her 20 only.  she went to the toy store with mommy-la and uncle papa dan and got so frustrated for not finding any toy that would only cost that much.  and she would not let her grandma and uncle pay for any toy she likes because she knew she only had that much!  she grabbed one toy at 69.75 and mommy-la offered to give her more money to pay for it but she did not let her.  she even told mommy-la:  "mama gave me only this and i only want a cheap toy".  she went out empty handed but no tantrums whatsoever.  i was so proud of my little girl!

as a reward since it's christmas, i bought her the nice toys she liked!  she waited patiently for them and it's worth giving them now... but reminded her though that nice toys are only for birthdays and christmas :).

thank you lord for your most wonderful blessing - my xia who is growing up independent, responsible, smart, considerate and pretty girl!  i can't ask for more!!!

santa claus came to town!

santa dropped by our house last night!  the kids must have been very good this year...

instead of just socks, the kids hang big shopping bags to make sure they get lots of stuff!

4 bags for the kids: kuya matt, ate jai, xia and dale.

kuya matt woke xia up and told her about santa's surprise!!!

xia was happy getting all santa's presents from the bag!  she liked them all :)

thank you santa for the gifts!!! they will continue to be good to get more toys next year!!!

merry christmas!!!

doctor in the making?

xia had an on and off fever since friday.  and i am worried because she hardly gets fever.  it's just her 4th time in her 4yrs that she had fever.  and this is the first time that she had it for 3 days!

so we had a checkup today at st. luke's and the doctor advised for urinalysis and cbc.  while waiting for her turn at the lab, i explained to her the procedures to be done to her so she would get well.  i am more concerned about the blood extraction because i don't like it myself!  i can't bear thinking about the pain she will have to go through...

but my little girl was not afraid even if i was talking about needles and blood!  i even told her she will feel some pain.  i did not sugar coat because she might get traumatized if what she will experience will be worst than what she imagines...

i kept her entertained also by letting her check her number to pop at the screen to signal that it was our turn.  and she happily got up when she saw her number on the tv screen.  the nurse let us settled in, with xia sitting on my lap to make her feel more comfortable.  i was holding her arms so the nurse can correctly position her.  there was a problem though as the nurse couldn't find a vein in her arm so he had to prick her finger instead and press it hard so the blood comes out.  and the nurse warned prior to the procedure that it was more painful than that of the arm...  i got so tensed but did not let xia to feel it.

i was just so amazed how the little handled the process.  no drama at all.  she was even looking the whole time to her little finger getting pricked and pressed and with the blood coming out!  such a brave little kid.  i was really impressed!

i was so relieved that even after the procedure, she didn't feel any pain...  thanks God!!!  maybe she's a doctor in the making!  she loves doc mc stuffins also she was maybe inspired by the gross sight of needles and blood!  hahaha...

kakaibang bata si xia talaga!

i think she's born with my very strong personality and independence!

what i'm certain about now is that she's born to conquer the world!!!  :P

#yolandaPH

such a tough situation for the philippines... for visayas...

the strongest typhoon ever recorded in the philippine history caused massive damage to homes, properties/infrastructure and livelihood.

and my beloved cadiz was not spared :(  signal #4 resulted to this...

mom went home last thursday and the typhoon struck the next day.  mom said it was mala-delubyo in intensity.  she was crying out to God, praying and praising Him at the same time.  i was agitated the whole time especially that she was only with my sister-in-law and 10yr old niece and 1yr old nephew...  good thing they never lost telecom signal so i was able to monitor them every 15mins during the entire 1.5hrs ordeal.

i am thankful that my family is well with very slight damage to our home.  aside from the lack of electricity until now (and expected to last in the next 15days as 151 posts got damaged), my family is generally ok.  so my heart goes out to people who have lost everything (including loved ones) due to this...

i have helped and will continue helping by:
  • foregoing personal gifts including for xia
  • foregoing chatime breaks (averaging 3x / weekday)
  • foregoing lunch-outs and dine-outs in the next 4 weeks (unless free!)
  • arranged a garage sale of office clothes
  • donating my and xia's old clothes (and we have accumulated a lot!)
  • asking more help from friends
all proceeds from these activities including personal sacrifices will go to yolanda survivors in my hometown.

with the bayanihan of filipinos and the help from other countries, no doubt in my heart that visayans will soon rise up, stronger than ever!!!

halloween 2013: spooky treats @ the village

so it's that time of the year again!  it's really one of the most awaited event as it's one of the rarest time that i can dress up xia in a costume.  her school being a montessori school does not celebrate nutrition month, linggo ng wika, or UN day - where kids can dress up.  that's why we look forward to the annual halloween event!

as opposed to last year, where we were able to join 2 halloween parties (at the condo and the village) - we only got to join at the village only this year.  we sold the condo recently and while we will miss the celebration there, we knew from last year that the village' celebration is more fun!!!

off xia went as..... TINKERBELL!!! :)

kuya matt came as zorro - tinkerbell's escort hehehe #walangconnect.

lots of kids have joined - dressed up as either cute or scary characters, like princesses, fairies, snow white, little red riding hood, witches, zombies, draculas...

for us though - this kuya should take home the best in costume award!  best in effort pa ha, as he had to stand the entire time because of the table he's carrying along.  really cool!

but the kids went crazzzyyy with JOLLIBEE!!!  he has been a part of our 4 years halloween parties - be it in the condo or here in the village.  hanep si jollibee - star for all seasons! hehehehe...

the most enjoyable part though was the collecting of treats from neighboors! :)  most have dressed up their homes the creepiest way possible - aliw!!!  we, however, did not decorate our house but we gave out treats for the kids...

then xia went around to get her own treats!  and she had a blast!!!  she kept telling me how cool it was and that she was really having fun.  yes, my bulinggit can really be soooo expressive!!!

and the best in effort sa mga homeowners is this - the alice in wonderland place :)  karir na karir diba?! :)

and my tinkerbell went home happy as usual!!!

'til next year!!! :)
